Before FlipTop emerged, J-Skeelz was already making waves in the rap game with his group 187 Mobstaz. The veteran emcee joined the league in late 2011 and quickly became a crowd favorite thanks to his heavy bars and intimidating voice. His match against Batas in August 2012 remains to be popular among fans of battle rap. Instead of busting hurtful lines in the aforementioned contest, J-Skeelz taught his opponent the meaning for respect. Not only was his approach effective, but it was also very unique during that time. The Tondo-born rapper is also untouchable when it comes to freestyle. At Ahon 8, he managed to defeat Khen Magat by spitting off-the-dome lines from the first to the third round.
