Bwelta Balentong 6 took place on the 12th of October 2019 at Tiu Theater in Makati. The card consisted of seven battles, two of which were for the Isabuhay Tournament. Expectations were high for the event since it had a stacked lineup. So was it able to live up to the hype? Were the tickets worth it? Let’s take a look back at this night.

The two Isabuhay semifinal matchups tore the house down! Apekz vs G-Clown was a perfect combination of witty comedy and hard-hitting rhymes, with both emcees delivering their bars in full force. Sixth Threat vs Poison13 was a flawless showcase of technical lyricism, raw aggression, and rhyming ability. Both battles featured back-and-forth action that made the crowd go wild throughout. What’s amazing is that it also translated well to video. These matchups are undoubtedly FlipTop classics. Salute to all competitors!

BLKD vs Frooz had the right amount of solid bars, jokes, and references. BLKD stumbled a bit in round 3, but it was still a great showing all in all. Apoc vs Invictus had the potential to be the battle of the night if only they didn’t choke. The two emcees delivered some of their best and most complex lines, but their slip-ups certainly stopped the momentum.

Zaito vs Thike is arguably the most underrated battle of the night. It’s a surprise, since both rappers are already well-known in the Philippine hip-hop scene. Nevertheless, the match was comedy gold with the right mix of heavy bars. LilJohn vs CripLi was another battle that made the crowd burst into laughter. Yes, it was mostly a comedy match, but they made sure their lines and angles were creative and original. Sadly, this was LilJohn’s last appearance in FlipTop. He passed away about two weeks later. Thank you for the memories, sir! We’ll keep your memory alive.

Bwelta Balentong 6 is also the event where the legendary “wife vs mistress” happened. Like it or not, it remains one of the most popular battles in the league, even reaching several major news outlets upon release on YouTube. Complete with costume, Shernan played the wife while Hazky was the mistress. It was indeed a gimmick match, but the emcees still made sure to proudly represent the battle rap elements.

So did you watch Bwelta Balentong 6 live as well? If yes, feel free to share your stories in the comments section. Without a doubt, it was a historic affair not only because of the epic battles, but also because of the amazing crowd. Everyone was active all night, showing appreciation to the emcees and performances. In 2025, the movement remains strong and we’re on the road to the 12th Bwelta Balentong event. For now, the only information we have is the date and venue. It will take place on September 20 at Metrotent Convention Center in Pasig. Keep on checking the website and the official Facebook page for for further announcements. We hope to see you all there. FlipTop, make some noise!
