2021 was the last time we saw a Grain Assault event with battles. It was still during the pandemic era. Wow. Time flies indeed. For five years, it served as the official anniversary party of FlipTop in Visayas and Mindanao. However, in 2026, the league announced on their Facebook page its much-awaited return to its battle rap roots. The 17th edition of Grain Assault will take place on the 21st of March 2026 at Matchpoint Sports Bar & Events in Shaw Boulevard. Are you still thinking about going? It's the first battle event of the year! Ahon 16 was the last time we witnessed emcees verbally boxing each other, so it’s exciting to see it once again. It’s like being part of a whole new chapter of an epic saga. Many memorable moments happened at Grain Assault, and for sure, there are more to look forward to on the next one.
Fans have praised Matchpoint not only for its good food (they have an extensive menu) and drinks, but also for its amazing atmosphere. Wherever you are in the venue, you can hear every line from the emcees clearly. It’s another small room setting event, and if you ask those who’ve attended before, they will say it’s a wonderful experience. A fan already talked about the beauty of small room battles here. Big stage affairs are fun indeed, but these types of events also have their own magic. You just have to be there to fully appreciate it.
Grain Assault 17 will feature bouts from Langit Lupa.16 emcees from 16 underground leagues from different parts of the country will compete in a single-elimination tournament that will conclude at Ahon 17. You will have an opportunity to watch all of the first-round matches up-close and personal. Don’t listen to the critics. Yes, these rappers are not “old gods” or popular names, but if you watch their matches and/or listen to their tracks online, you will agree they deserve to be here. It’s the Olympics of Philippine underground battle rap that offers a great view of the future of the scene. Always remember that all of our idols also started out in the underground. Let’s give all of these up-and-comers a chance. The future fan favorites will be born on this night.
