Last week, FlipTop has announced on social media their next event for 2025. They will go back to Cebu on June 28 for the 15th edition of Gubat. It will be held once again at Mariner’s Court in Cebu City. There will be eight battles, with one being the quarterfinals for this year’s Isabuhay Tournament. Many are looking forward to this event, even fans outside Visayas. Why is that? Let us tell you.
Obviously, the first thing that comes to mind is the lineup. Who wouldn’t want to see this well-constructed card? Nadnad aims to add another victory to his record, but it certainly won’t be an easy task because he’ll be taking on Ryl, who made a huge impact at last year’s Process of Illumination in Cebu. Castillo vs Keelan has the potential to be a back-and-forth classic, since both emcees gave unforgettable performances in their recent battles. Mimack vs Murdz is certainly an interesting matchup. We have Mimack’s flawless mix of jokes and heavy-hitters versus Murdz’s complex pen game and references.
Ruffian vs Plaridhel is for the fans of pure lyricism. Who wouldn’t want to see Ruffian’s impressive mix of technical rhyming and street style clashing with Plaridhel’s intricate writing and creative concepts? If Marshall Bonifacio and Empithri bring their A-game, their match could be a candidate for the battle of the night. These are two rappers who are known for their impeccable, well-rounded styles and clever angles. J-Blaque vs Vitrum is the much-awaited showdown between Isabuhay champ and finalist. They’re both versatile bars-wise, and their stage presence always shines.
GL vs Emar Industriya is a style clash we didn’t know we wanted! While both are equipped with an intelligent pen game, they have a different approach. GL’s style is more of in-your-face and concept-based, while Emar has that poetic, leftfield vibe. If they come prepared, get ready for a game-changing matchup. Lastly, CripLi vs Ban is for the quarterfinals of Isabuhay 2025. It’s one of the most anticipated matches in the tournament, thanks to their remarkable showing in the first round. Both showcased not only their witty and unpredictable humor but also their heavy bars and raw aggression. Don’t be surprised if this is an easy battle of the year contender.
Even if you haven’t watched a FlipTop event in Cebu live, you know that it has one of the best crowds ever. Some might even say they ARE THE best. Now, imagine being part of it in person.
